Freeze Warning and Winter Storm Watch

A hard freeze is on the way to Virginia Lakes. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are forecast to drop below freezing starting Sunday, October 12, and may not rise above 32°F for several days. Overnight lows are expected to reach 16°F Tuesday night and 18°F Wednesday night.
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Monday afternoon through Wednesday morning. Heavy snow is predicted above 7,000 feet, with potential accumulations of 8–16 inches and up to 3 feet along the Sierra crest. Ridge gusts may reach 80 mph, and 1–4 inches of snow are possible in valley areas along Highway 395. Travel conditions could become hazardous, especially over Sonora and Tioga Passes.
