Virginia Lakes Rd. is Open!
Hello Virginia Lakes folks!
The annual sign that spring has arrived, Virginia Lakes Road is now open!

Note that State Route 108 remains closed.

From Walt (photos and the following): parking at each of the subdivision road intersections has been cleared, and both lanes are open to the resort and Trumbull Lake Campground. At this time, the lakes are still not melted enough to see any shoreline.
A few conditions to keep in mind:
- The area by the dumpster is a muddy mess, and four-wheel drive is recommended.
- The road up toward the lake may also be muddy if it has been cleared from Trumbull Campground to Big Virginia.

Mono County also reminds travelers that it does not clear snow from dirt roads, and that many Forest Service roads remain impassable in winter conditions even where lower sections may appear dry.
Use caution, expect soft and muddy spots, and plan accordingly. Also, looks like snow showers are forecast for next week, so if you’re traveling in the area double check the weather forecast.
