Virginia Lakes Road Open, Trout Season Opener Today

Trout season is officially open, and Virginia Lakes looks more like a winter postcard than a spring fishing spot! There’s still 3 to 4 feet of snow around the subdivision, according to community members visiting last week.

Good news: Virginia Lakes Road was open yesterday according to the Mono County website which says it’s still open today. We got a little dusting of new snow (as you can see in the webcam photo from today, thanks for that). So take it slow, it can still be slick in places.

I’ll post some photos as soon as I get them. If you snap any good ones, send them.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) posted that hatcheries are operating at normal capacity having weathered disease issues. More about all that and opening day here.
