Stage 1 Fire Restrictions

Just a heads up about current fire threat status relevant to Virginia Lakes.

Fire danger in the Virginia Lakes (Bridgeport Ranger District) area is currently “Low”, and several nearby public land agencies have Stage 1 fire restrictions in effect, including Inyo National Forest, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest/Bridgeport Ranger District, and the BLM Bishop Field Office.

Mono County (Sheriff) has announced campfire restrictions in Mono county parks and land. However, as of now, there are no additional restrictions at Virginia Lakes or other developed Forest Service campgrounds in the area, where campfires should only be used in designated fire rings within developed sites.

See the Bridgeport Ranger District Stage 1 Fire Restrictions notice, including a definition of “Stage 1” here:

Please help protect our forest community: do not have fires when it is windy, fully extinguish fires before leaving or going to bed.

Thank you for helping keep Virginia Lakes and the surrounding forest safe!
